I will be attending a webinar tomorrow that explores this very question. While I will explore this further after the webinar I wanted to take a few minutes of your time to share my thoughts going into the webinar.
Since I am a believer in trying new things I wanted to experiment and provide you this post as a podcast, using technology that I helped build back in my days at Brainshark. The technology is great, as you’ll hear, but keep in mind that I am experimenting, going without a written script, I hope it makes the podcast feel more conversational and therefore more enjoyable (let me know what you think).
Podcast is 4:48 in length:

Hmmm. Looks like the fire has died down. Let throw some gasoline on it. http://bit.ly/EM3NZ

Surly the better question should be “is Crossing the Chasm relevant to the marketing specifics of high tech products today”
Geoffrey Moore put his marketing theory forward nearly 20 years ago!

That is also a great question James, well said. What is your take?

John,
Good format – not the right model for my ADHD, but works well in exploring concepts better. I will put my comments on your other blog on the webinar.
Thanks

Love the experiment. It allowed me to do what I do best: multi-task. I can listen and learn while doing other like the best of them. I look forward to “hearing” more. Best.

Thank you Sarah. I may be trying a Youtube podcast as a supplement to the blog tonight/tomorrow. Will wait your feedback on that.

Can you add qualifiers such as which markets, regions, verticals?

That is a great comment and I’ll try to provide more data following today’s webinar. However, here are some quick points based upon my experiences only, while there is data out there I haven’t yet gone back to dig it up.
- Failure rates are higher in Enterprise than SMB. Enterprise implementations are far more complex with multiple integration points.
- In businesses where processes are fairly static due to industry maturity rates of success are higher. The fact that processes are mature and people accept them lead to more successful implementations.
More to come.
